Inside Taj Falaknuma Palace
Built in 1894 by Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra and later acquired by the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad as a guesthouse for state visitors, Falaknuma Palace sits on a hill 2,000 feet above the city — its name means 'mirror of the sky' in Urdu.
The restoration kept the palace's original library, armoury, and the Nizam's 101-seat dining table in the Jade Room intact. Arrival is by horse-drawn carriage through the palace gates, and the gardens — laid out in a scorpion shape — offer panoramic views over Hyderabad.
